Conna Harrier Club |
|
Club Founded in 1875 In 1918 moved from foot to a mounted pack The Club has the unique distinction of being the only TRENCHER pack in Ireland That means that the hounds are kept by various people in the district and collected before the hunt on Sundays
History From 1918 the hounds were hunted on horseback by Tom Sheehan and John Joe Walsh, Jim Lane carried the horn from 1922 to 1927. Dan Keneally from 1927 to 1934. Then the most popular Johnny Hurley of Garryanne held the position of huntsman from 1934 to 1970. Johnny was to all of us the face of the Conna Harriers, he was a most cheerful man and cared well for the club. David Kent took the horn from Johnny's retirement until 1979.
In 1979 Tommy Hurley became huntsman, following in his fathers footsteps, he holds this position. No mounted visitors allowed, hunt meets at twelve noon on Sundays during the season.
