Community Care
Founded 1981
The parish has an excellent community care committee. They are very active providing services such as senior citizens club nights, holidays, day trips, Christmas parties, Santa for the children, and pursuing funding for the various projects.
The committee will be involved in the senior citizens housing as it progresses and very much so when complete.
The holiday organised each year is very popular, and usually involves a four day trip, this year they have their sights set further afield.
Pat Hickey is the chairman of community care, he has been instrumental in the provision of community alarms for elderly people and is dedicated to providing the best quality service for all of our citizens young and old.
Two prestigious awards were won in recent years, the Chubb award for best Community Care was won in 1990, and County Federation Award Scheme 1991.
Like all of the committees this is a subcommittee of the community council, and its chairman is a member of the council.
